We Need YOU to Marshal at No Kings!

Image 3-5-26 at 12.24 PM.png

Have you been to a protest where you saw a team of people wearing bright vests and helping people? These are marshals - people like you who volunteer to help keep events peaceful and safe.

No Kings on March 28th has created a need for lots of marshals because so many local events are taking place at the same time. Please consider marshaling for the events in Arlington, Bedford, or Lexington!

Online marshal training is widely available - you can find locally organized trainings here and sessions organized by the No Kings Coalition here. The skills you’ll learn are useful in many situations.

Marshals are not expected to engage physically. Instead, they draw on situational awareness, self regulation, and de-escalation techniques, among other skills.

This is one of the most meaningful ways to protect our rights and make the day a success! Feel free to email us here if you have questions or want to learn more.

Trained? Sign up with Safety Marshals/Peacekeepers for Greater Boston

Indivisible LAB is building a resource of people who have received training as citizen safety marshals. We share the resource with ally organizations that are committed to nonviolence in support of pro-democracy events. Please sign up and join us!

Citizens Bank Action

Image 2-12-26 at 3.53 PM.png

Detention camps run by for-profit prison companies hold nearly 90% of the people in ICE custody - over 65,000 people now and more by the day.

Citizens Bank uses the deposits of customers in Lexington, Arlington, Belmont and throughout their network to finance the largest, most notorious of these companies: CoreCivic and The Geo Group.

When we tell customers, they start closing their accounts. Join us this Saturday, March 7, at one-hour peaceful protests in Arlington CenterArlington HeightsLexington and now in Belmont to spread the word about Citizens Bank. More than 60 protests are scheduled in ten states and Washington D.C. See de-icecitizensbank.org for more information.

Learn How Candidates Get on the MA Ballot

Screenshot 2026-02-19 at 1.43.17 PM.png

Many new candidates are running for Federal and State offices in Massachusetts, including US Senate and several Congressional seats such as CD5 and CD6. Although the primary election is September 1, the ballot qualification process is already underway.

Candidates must gather signatures from registered voters, and Democratic candidates for statewide office must secure fifteen percent of delegate votes at the late May Democratic State Convention. Delegates are chosen through local caucuses that begin this week across the state.

Our friends at Indivisible Acton Area have created this helpful summary of the MA Democratic Convention and caucus process.

Residents are encouraged to attend their local caucus to learn about the process and connect with voters and candidates. Local caucuses include Arlington on February 28, Bedford on March 4, and Lexington on March 21; click on caucus dates for more locations and details.

Write for Democracy - CEO's

Business leaders have been SILENT as ICE and CBP have wreaked havoc. Demand that they speak out against the excesses of out-of-control federal agents. Join us to write to the CEOs of the 25 biggest corporations headquartered in Massachusetts and demand that they speak up. We will be supplying postcards and you can find instructions, a sample message, and a CEO name-and-address list here.

Write for Democracy - Colorado and N. Carolina

Midterm elections where Democrats stand a good chance of victories are coming up. Step one is to get unregistered voters likely to vote Democratic to register. Write postcards to remind people in Colorado and North Carolina that MAGA Republicans are making health insurance premiums double while the super-rich are getting even richer.

Sign up here to order your postcards - $10/ packet of 10 cards, addresses, QR stickers, and stamps - and arrange to pick them up at one of our Action Hours or at another location in Lexington.

Write for Democracy

You can get addresses to write postcards on your own (or with friends at a “postcard party”) from Postcards to Voters (PTV).

PTV was founded in 2017 and writes for campaigns, including special elections and down ballot races, all year round. You need to buy your own postcards and stamps, but PTV provides the script and addresses for each campaign. If you’ve never written for PTV, or have written before and would like to request addresses, you can get more information here or on their website.

Support Stipend Reform

Image 3-7-26 at 9.11 AM.png

Last fall, Indivisible LAB members helped collect signatures for the stipend reform ballot question that would reduce the MA Legislature’s use of stipends or “loyalty pay” that makes legislators dependent on leadership for some of their salary. Now the Legislature has until early May to hold hearings and decide whether to pass legislation adopting the provisions.

On Tuesday, March 17, at 11am, the Special Joint Committee on Initiative Petitions, which is co-chaired by Senator Cindy Friedman, will conduct a hearing on the stipend reform ballot initiative (now filed as H.5010). You can testify at the hearing (in person or virtually) and/or submit written testimony no later than Saturday, March 21. A livestream of the hearing will also be available on the Legislature's website. Get more details here.

The LEAP Committee, which is the sponsor of the stipend reform ballot initiative, has shared this guide to make it easy to prepare testimony. If you’re planning to attend the hearing and/or submit testimony, you can let LEAP know here

Tell State Officials to Protect our Communities

Urge your state legislators to pass legislation that limits police collaboration with ICE and protects immigrant communities.

Contact Governor Healey and demand an end to Massachusetts’ collaboration agreement with ICE, which diverts our tax dollars to carry out federal immigration enforcement. Our resources should be used to strengthen communities, not to expand ICE’s reach.

Tell Massport to Protect Due Process Rights

Massachusetts residents are being removed from our state via flights from Hanscom Field without access to counsel or family support, violating their due process rights under our State Constitution. Take part in a new campaign to demand action from Massport organized by the De-ICE Hanscom coalition. To join their easy email- and letter-writing action, click

Trump's Corporate Tax Cuts

Image 1-8-26 at 11.11 AM.png

Trump’s corporate tax cuts are going to cost Massachusetts nearly half a billion dollars this year alone — on top of billions of dollars in cuts to Medicaid, SNAP, and other federal programs we rely on.

Here's the context: States use the federal tax code as a starting point to calculate how much people and corporations owe in taxes.

Trump’s changes to the federal tax code cut taxes for the rich and large corporations (by more than $3 billion/year in MA alone). So, unless we act now, these cuts will also be baked into our state's tax code, meaning big tax cuts for the rich and large corporations.

Other states across the country have already taken action, but we're still waiting on Massachusetts. We don't have to let this happen. Email your state legislators and tell them to reject Trump’s tax cuts for billionaires and protect Massachusetts.

Tell Our Members of Congress: Do Your Job

bs2_banner.jpg

On Dec 17, Judge Cobb of the District of Columbia ruled that ICE’s policy requiring advance notice before members of congress can inspect immigration detention facilities likely violates federal law.

On Dec 19, Judge Saris of the Massachusetts District Court, ruled that the Trump administration had been violating the law by misclassifying immigrants and placing them in mandatory detention without bond hearings.

Our friends at Justice 4 All, who host the Thursday standout at the Burlington ICE facility, have made it easy for you to send a letter to members of the MA congressional delegation. Demand that they: inspect the ICE facility in Burlington, ensure that MA residents are getting the bond hearings they are entitled to, and insist that no one is denied fair representation and a hearing because they have been flown out of the state.

Combat Food Insecurity

Image 11-6-25 at 12.00 PM.png

Many MA residents will lose SNAP benefits they depend on to purchase food because of changes to the program included in a bill Congress passed this summer.

While local food banks and pantries rely on volunteer help and donations of food and other items, what they need most right now is financial support. Here are some organizations in our communities that could benefit from your generosity.

Arlington Eats
Bedford Food Bank
Lexington Food Pantry
Healthy Waltham

You can find information about other local food banks or pantries here or here.

Contact Your Legislators on Beacon Hill

Image 8-14-25 at 2.42 PM.jpeg

By now, most of us have seen video clips of groups of masked and armed people committing ruthless disappearing acts on our residents (including some citizens) without due process. We have also seen the National Guard deployed against the wishes of  the Mayor of Los Angeles and the Governor of California.

Please take this 1 minute action to send a letter to your state legislators and ask them to Protect The Commonwealth by passing HD.4886 (Identification of law enforcement) and HD.5020 (Responsible deployment of the National Guard) in MA.

Help Strengthen Voting Rights in Massachusetts
Image 7-16-25 at 2_edited.jpg

The Election Modernization Coalition is a legislative advocacy group working together since 2010 to advance voting rights in Massachusetts by removing barriers to registering and voting and modernizing election systems. Members include the Massachusetts chapters of Common Cause,  the ACLU, and the League of Women Voters, Mass Vote, the Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts and several other organizations.

Their priority legislation this year includes bills to provide same-day voter registration, separate the municipal census from voter registration, and inspect polling places to ensure access for disabled voters.

TAKE ACTION TODAY: You can get more information on their website and use this link to ask your state legislators to support these bills.

No New Women's Prison!

Without any discussion, Gov. Healey announced that she wants to spend $360 MILLION dollars (up from $50 million) on a new women's prison.

This is an abomination. The current prison is half full - and when they build a new one they will want to fill those beds, with people in desperate straits because the safety net has been pulled out from under them.

Does it make sense to spend 360 million dollars to imprison 218 women, many of whom are elderly (due to harsh prison conditions that is over

age 50) or have severe health issues and are no danger to society?
